I don't have previous experience with this particular chipset, but I am familiar with embedded programming in general, and low-level programming (interacting directly with the I/O registers of peripherals, particularly MODBUS devices connected directly to the serial port of a Linux PC, but please keep this confidential because it was someone else's business idea back in 2009) on desktop PCs, so I think that this is familiar territory to me. However, I have one question: are you proposing driving the CM6533 chipset from a desktop computer (e.g. driving a CM6533 chipset on a CM6533 USB audio device plugged into a USB port of a computer, maybe without using a "mainstream" operating system on the desktop computer), or is the CM6533 connected to an embedded processor? I have experience of manipulating PC UARTs both as a student (in the early 1990s) and more recently in 2009 (please keep THAT confidential because, as I said earlier in this message, that was someone else's business ides). I also successfully used Kermit in the late 1990s to transfer the contents of the hard drive of my old Mitac XT, running MSDOS, to my new Linux computer at the time.
