Contest Brief

I need 10 articles written. Each article should be a minimum of 500 words and a max of 800 words.

Each article will be a summary of a news topic (topics found below). The articles should be a simple account of the respective topics. The end-readers of this article will be people who may have heard recent headlines in the news regarding the topic but may not know the specific details of what happened, who's involved, why this topic is in the news now, recent developments, etc. The article should strike a balance between giving the lay-person an overview of the situation and specific key details necessary to fully understand the situation.

The narrative style should be conversational, as though you are describing the situation/topic to a friend. The articles should be completely objective and unbiased, and the content should be able to pass a Copyscape check.

Time is an important factor in this contest, so the first satisfactorily-written submission will get the award.

I agree with Simeon, I have submitted first article and it would be convenient if you tell me to continue or stop right there because writing all 10 of them is not an easy job. It requires time and effort and all would be wasted if someone else is chosen as winner.

A few people brought up a fair point that it's very time consuming to write 10 articles (5,000 - 8,000 words) only to not be chosen as a winner. Although I don't think 1 article is enough for me to comfortably judge consistent writing style, I'm willing to compromise and agree to 3 articles.

I will allow the submission of just 3 articles with the understanding that the contest winner will write the remaining 7 articles upon being awarded the contest.

While $100 is fair enough for all ten articles, it will be a huge risk tow rite all ten and not win. This goes without saying that i don't have any hindrance to participating in this contest other than the fact that it's a terrible inconvenience to write 10 articles 8,000 words and not be chosen as winner. I like to suggest that we submit just one article, and you read through and choose your winner based on the submitted " single entry", after making your choice, you may then proceed to pick a winner who will then complete the remaining nine articles. Please let me know if this seems okay with you. Thanks

I agree with Dunja and Simeon. It makes sense to write one article for prize of $10, and the winner gets the chance to write the remaining nine. Or you can split the contest into 10 articles of $10 each.

  That's a good suggestion. I will probably do that in future contests as I see the point that it's very time consuming to write 10 articles only to not be the winner. I've modified this contest to allow the submission of just 3 articles with the understanding that the contest winner will write the remaining 7 articles upon being the awarded the contest.

Articles should be written for pure info but in the conversational style, no problem, but is it allowed for the personal opinions to be added just to "spice it up" or just pure unbiased texts?

  Hi Milos, good question. The articles should be completely objective and unbiased with no opinions. Although I do agree that in many cases opinions add spice to articles, this project requires complete objectivity.
