Contest Brief

Professional touring Progressive Rock Band wants to create a VR music video for our work, The Gates of Heaven in order to partner with talented individuals for creating visuals for our upcoming album release of new material. Show us what you can do with our past work by producing a VR music video for The Gates of Heaven. Users will be able to use a smartphone or other device to view and listen to our music in 360 views during a long 4 part song that deals with the theme of spirituality/ascending tp the gates of heaven, space, out of body experience, spirit choosing to live, hope, descending from gates of heaven back to life. VR experience must be visually stunning, creative, interactive and original. It must also have an area of the 360 view displaying the lyrics as they are heard in the song. Project must be in a file we can upload to Youtube and other popular video platforms and watch on their iOS and Android devices as well as VR smartphone headsets. The song tells a 4 part story based on a dream a band member had after the death of a close friend. The mood is both sad and uplifting. Part 1 starts with a soul traveling to the gates of heaven.
Part 2 Losing You is about losing a love in a car crash with her spirit taking flight.
Part 3 Losing myself is about dying in a car crash and soul departs floating up to heaven.
Part 4 Coming Home is about staring into the spirit behind the gates of heaven and choosing to return to life.

We are an up and coming progressive rock band looking for a long-term business relationship with creative and talented individuals who can enhance our unique music with visually stunning creations that immerse our listeners in a music/visual experience that amplifies our message.       This sounds interesting/exciting. We enjoy working with creative people and hope this can be a fruitful partnership. The video is meant to be published as a full-length piece rather than 4 separate movements. Glad you like the music. We have band footage but did not see the footage used in our mind's eye of the finished product. The contest and its reward is out there for us to establish initial interest and meaningful bonds for our upcoming album release videos.

    I would be more than willing to participate and partner with you to produce content in the future but the deadline for this project (2 weeks) is not enough to produce a full length 360 degree music video. I'm more than capable of creating and editing 360 degree content but I would like to message you personally about further proceedings if you're interested.       Thank you for the reply; Specifically about this contest, I'm wondering if you're looking for a full-length video or just a sample of my abilities. I'm also wondering if this project will require me to shoot my own footage, if I would be using footage you have shot, or if it would be entirely CGI - which would be very time consuming but yield a more polished result. All my work is 100% original and I wouldn't need someone to supervise the creative aspects of the video. Furthermore, what is the $200 contest reward: Does it act as part of an upfront payment for the rest of the project, or is it the whole budget for this video? If it's the full budget for this video, would your future videos have similar budgets? I understand that your music is a series of stories, and would be told through the music video(s). The video itself could be produced as a single 20 minute video, or be split up into 4 smaller videos, depending on your preference.

      Additionally, I have the hardware and skillset to produce any style required and would only need the footage you'd like to use and/or an idea of what you would like for the video, and can deliver in any file format required for your viewing platforms. As for the VR aspects, I own a VR headset myself so I would be able to preview video on-site to make sure it looks professional. Would you be using solely YouTube for viewing, or would you also need/want an app for your group? Like I said, I have a wide range of abilities and could provide a lot of additional services to you, and if you can guarantee future work I would consider charging a lot less. I really look forward to your reply, as well as working with a long-term partner. On a side note, I enjoyed your album a lot! The lyrics and message of your album are very deep and emotional, and I really enjoyed it; I hope to hear more of your music! Thank you and have a nice day!

      We have some footage of the band playing this song. Our needs for the graphics are stated in the description. We did not need the live band footage as much as we did the graphics that match the theme of the song as described in the contest description. Your thoughts.
