Contest Brief

Civilian Review (civilianreview.org) is launching as a community organized civilian oversight tool. Think of it as a cross between facebook and meet up, but organized specifically as a tool for police reform advocacy and community oversight organizing.

I'd like to see the logo have an icon of some sort, perhaps a shield, like a defender, but not a badge. It should be modern, flat, and suitable for web, print, and merchandising.

Just a CR icon isn't really going to work, it simply doesn't communicate anything, which is sort why I suggested a shield, and it doesn't have to be a shield, but a shield communicates something. We're a community protector, defender, delegate, and advocate. We're building real relationships with people, in their neighborhoods.

There some very nice logos in these submissions. My fearvis that they're a little too corporate, or sanitized. I like cirporate and clean, but at thr same time our organization idms about radical resistance, combating police brutality and corruption in the justice system. Consider large scale social movements, like Black Lives Matter and Occupy Wall Street in terms of purpose and strategy in defense of civil rights.
