Contest Brief
The desired ipad app is a chess-puzzle of demonstration purpose only. Please see the demo. I am an illusionist and the app is only used on my ipad in order to let the audience see the knight's tour on a screen.
.) The chessboard should be numbered from 1 to 64.
.) Only those fields can be clicked that represent a legal knight'smove. (Please see basic chess rules, if you don't know it).- A click on a correct field creates a confirming sound, a click on an incorrect field triggers a buzzer sound.
.) Forward and backwards buttons allow to undo and redo the last moves
.) Whenever a correct field is clicked, it disappears and reveals another piece of the background picture.
.) As soon as the first field is clicked, a digital countdown starts running down in the background picture. The idea of the countdown is to be in the background like a wallpaper and as big as the screen. Naturally, the more fields are clicked, the more the countdown will be recognizable as such. The countdown should only have 3 digits (like 3:00) and only show minutes and seconds.
.) This countdown must be modifiable
.) After the countdown is down to 0:00, a pop-up should ask: "Continue?". When clicked "ok" the countdown should go up again. (0:01, 0:02, 0:03, etc.)
.) Reset button resets whole chessboard and countdown
.) With the first click on a field, a sound clip (will be provided separately) should start automatically at the right moment, so that it always ends at 0:00.
.) the history of clicked fields should be in a bar on top.
.) Here is a real sequence to test: 9-3-13-7-24-39-56-62-52-58-41-26-20-30-45-35-50-60-54-64-47-37-43-33-18-1-11-5-15-32-22-28-34-49-59-53-63-48-38-44-27-17-2-12-6-16-31-21-4-10-25-19-29-14-8-23-40-46-36-42-57-51-61-55
.) The board should look elegant. A little 3 D touch in general would be good as well.
.)How does the tour end successfully?: When the second-last (!) field is clicked, the countdown should stop at whatever time it is at that moment. Only one field is left (it will always be one in a corner). If this last field is clicked, the countdown should disappear and a rotating 3-D horse (knight) should appear, covering the whole chessboard.
