Contest Brief

I have a book, One Minds Manifesto, ready for publication which requires COVER artwork design and TEXT page layout in Indesign from a word document..

Two concepts are being explored for the cover -

1. A childhood home, Gloucester Lodge. This requires replication from the low resolution picture attached. It can be done minimally or as a photographic reproduction.

2. A tree with deep roots that are visible and able to withstand an earthquake occurring all round. It is a metaphor for strength throughout dysfunction that I use in the book.

Finished book size is 234 x 155mm. Back cover width + 20mm Spine + front cover width = 330mm
Allow for 20mm spine and 3mm bleed ALL edges. Book trim marks are to appear OUTSIDE the area allowed for bleed.
Original artwork and high resolution print-ready pdfs required

The text is currently 240 pages, laid out as C4 in a word document. The prologue is attached. The contest winner MUST work also on converting the text from a word document to Indesign.

uhhh....contest holder asked for illustration at first..at the end chose some one who only used a photo...easiest money possible. I spent 3 hours to make mine..but I would have been happy if someone with better illustration was chosen but won who just placed a photograph. not fair at all.

Thank you to everyone who has done work on this contest. It always surprises me that someone can improve on my own vision and interpret it. This is what happened with the design that I, and my friends, liked most. The contest has been extended with a second design option offered. I will keep much closer contact on this clarification board. I have only worked in Project form before, not Contest, on Freelancer, and the communication mechanisms vary.

  With respect, all freelancers enter a competition with the chance their time will be for naught and another entry chosen. Indeed, I too have spent time amounting to months placing printing tenders only to lose out to someone else.

Hi there!

Are you wanting an original illustration, or original composition? Are you opposed to legal to use images and typefaces being incorporated into the design? When the competition is over, do you want more files than the single .PDF, or the working file as well? If so, would that be InDesign, Illustrator (in terms of illustration), or Photoshop (if composition is involved)?
