Contest Brief
Please look at the attached PDF for details on our project. We are looking for a skilled designer/engineer to create 3D renderings for our new product. Our product is a high-tech headband that will hold a transducer behind the ear. The headband -- these are not headphones -- will contain circuit board, batteries, led, switches and wires. This is a concept design that you are creating. Depending on your entries, we may hire you to do a final design for manufacturing.
We are standing by to answer any questions about the project.

Is this for 3D printing? Will you need the final model for 3D printing?

Bishal -- The final product will be manufactured via injection mold. However, we will want to 3D print the device as a way to review it. - JTD

Designers -- A quick note of clarifications. There is only one transducer. And one circuit board. You can place the batteries on one side of the device and the transducer on the other side of the device. We like symmetrical designs, but all of the components do not need to be on one side. This should allow you to make the device smaller. -- JTD

I like the entries 2 from Milos and 3 from Ahmed. The two designs look great. How do you see them fitting on the head? Do the headbands go around the back of the head? Over the top of the head? Or around the front of the head? Is there room for the batteries in these designs?

honestly I don't see people using something around the front of the head.

Sebastian -- We think the two style that will work are typical headphones that go over the top of the head and a bone conduction style that goes around the back of the head. However, the ones that go behind the head need to place the transducer behind the head, yet remain firmly attached to the head. -- JTD

We are open to the style of headphone that Insight M posted. This is the shape of many bone conducting headphone. It is important to note that our transducer must be placed BEHIND the ear. The design used with bone conducting headphones would need to be modified to place the transducer behind the ear rather than in front of it.

Hi. A curious question. Every bone conduction headphone I know are placed in front of the ear. Its easier to fit cause you can grab also the ear. Why do you prefer to be placed behind?

Sebastian -- For our device to work, the transducer has to be placed behind the ear. We are not building headphones, but a device for another purpose. The only way our device will work is if the transducer is behind the ear. That is the big design challenge. -- JTD

Designers -- Do you prefer that the contest be "sealed" so that nobody can see your designs? I wasn't aware of this option until I had already posted the contest.
