Contest Brief
We are creating a travel planning site and want to get a handful of the screens and interactions in place.
1- Landing page – pinterest style
2- Getting started modals
We want to focus on material design and flat subtle details. In your design we need you to show some of these details.
The first page we will take inspiration from twitter. We want to load the page with all of the masonry bricks in the background but we want them to be fuzzy with a modal overlay on top. In the modal we will welcome users to the platform. After a few seconds we will disappear the modal and show that it is now accessible in the menu. (it disappears in the direction of the menu item we expect the user to interact with next)
In each pinterest type card we want the following meta details to be shown.
• Image,
• Name of place,
• rating (probably use numbers not stars),
• location (country or city),
• duration of trip (3 days, 6 weeks etc…)
• Person that “pinned” the trip (similar to how pinterest really is)
We need calls to action for View, Save to favorites, add to existing trip (you can use iconography for these CTA’s)
As a part of your design we need both the initial state of the page, and then to see how you plan to do the fade and CTA to the menu area. (roadtrippers.com does something like this as seen in this video http://screencast.com/t/3KSznEYq – the red dot and pulse)
Part 2 Getting started sequence
The next think we want to capture is the getting started modals. Users will use this to start the process of planning their trip. We want to take inspiration from http://www.tripomatic.com/ (load page and then click “Create your trip now”) you will see the couple of steps they go through to get the users info and start the plan of the trip.
1- http://screencast.com/t/Mw27ZO5Jbc (there is a search typeahead that is pretty cool)
2- http://screencast.com/t/4IV6DNKhXD
3- In your last step for this I want to get what a form would look like in your modal with the other 2
I am a big fan of this material’ish design pattern http://www.codecovers.eu/materialadmin/forms/basic as seen on the forms on the right side. Where the placeholder text becomes the title of the input field.
Let me know any questions you have. We can use a fictitious company name in the comps called “Trip Planners”
