Contest Brief

edit: This is the 'mockup' explanation that I did in one reply in a discussion board, so am posting it here as well so people can see it more easily:

This is a very badly sketched mockup image: http://imgur.com/VYg9RyG - I know, my drawing skills are lame :)

No.1 - the welcome screen with some nice boardgame related background and a bit rounded (or whatever style suits) button that says 'what to play?'.

No. 2 - when you press that button for the first time it would take you to the screen where you have to add the games that you own (since you still haven't added any). That screen would have a simple textbox input and a + button. Below it it would have a list of already added games.

No. 3 - in case you have some games added to your list then the button on the No.1 screen would pop out some random game from your list and you would have options YES/NO - for if you wanna play that or not.

No. 4 - we now come basically to the way how http://carcassonne-scoring-board.com works where you add the number of players. I imagined that it would be good UX for the mobile to automatically populate the number of players as 4 and then put big + and - buttons on the right/left side then you would enter names for people and click the START COUNTING button.

No. 5 - is the counting screen.

No. 6 is the ending screen - basically the final screen where I show the scores.

Hope this clears stuff out a bit. If not, don't hesitate to ask me ANY questions, I'll do my best to reply promptly.

------------ original post ------------
I would need a designer to design a mockup for a boardgame score tracking app.

When I say boardgames, I'm referring to games such as Carcassonne, Catan. The app that I'm making is sort of a score tracker for these games.

I already have an application with the main part of the app (score tracking) done, and it's live here: http://carcassonne-scoring-board.com/. Of course, the design for that is awful but feel free to play with that app a bit to get a feel for how it's working.

The screens that need to be designed are:

Home screen - where there would be a sort of a big play button (with a question mark inside) with a text 'What to play?'
My games screen - where you would add the games that you own
Selected game - a detailed screen showcasing a selected game that you own

The screens that need to be redesigned are the ones from the existing app mentioned above (http://carcassonne-scoring-board.com/). I would there basically just need the:

Counting selection screen - where you add number of players and their names
Counting in progress screen - where you actually track people's scores

In general, I still haven't made up my mind (I know, you hate me already) about the 'theme' of the design whether or not should it be more like a game UI or more like an app UI.

Few examples of 'game' UI that I like:

http://www.ricimi.com/2016/10/25/cartoon-gui-pack/ - this one is really good
https://graphicriver.net/item/wooden-gui-for-mobile-game/20009639 - I don't mind the wooden 'feel', it would 'just' need to have some connection to boardgames like maybe changed background that has boardgame's on it, or something like that

And this is the example of non-game UI that I like: https://graphicriver.net/item/do-mobile-ui-kit/7727105

As a general rule - I don't mind awarding two designers as winners if one makes a non-game design and other game design.

Oh, one thing that I forgot to add is that I had a mascot made for this app and it's here: http://i.imgur.com/MvvULMv.png. But, to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure it will 'fit in' with your ideas - if it doesn't don't worry, we'll create one in future work on this app.

Also, to conclude, as you may be aware, the app will need way more screens than this, so if with this contest I find the designer that I like, you can be sure you'll have way more work coming your way in this app.

Thank you Elina! Yes, we'll see if we'll want to offer the game UI as an alternative and if so be sure I'll come back and buy your entry.

Hey everyone, since I see that 3 more freelancers are planning to submit their entries, I have prolonged the contest for 3 more days, but to be honest, that's the last prolonging that I'll do. After those three days I'm going to pick a winner. Good luck!

    Hi everyone!,

I've just extended the project length to one more week, added the additional explanation into the project brief (that could have been found in the clarification board). The prize for the contest has increased as well. If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, I'll be happy to reply.

I imagine this to be designed for mobile phones and possibly tablets. Of course, I'm not searching for both. As I noted in the design brief - I'm looking for a designer whose design I'll like and we'll continue working on this 'app' further on additional screens and supported devices...

Also, it just dawned on me that I didn't specify that in case you go with the 'game' UI then I guess the most logical layout would be to use horizontal instead of vertical.

Hey Jesse, I've updated the link. Seems like it had the dot in it somehow. The proper link is: http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-best-board-games-of-all-time. This is just one example, if you google for 'board games top 100' you'll also get a decent list of them. If you have any other questions, please just ask...
