Contest Brief

Your project is to design a front badge for our bluetooth speakers looking like a vintage guitar amp. The name on the badge is "Zendling".

We plan to have the badge manufactured in metal and with enamel inlays, so it could be a combination of metal and colour, maybe even more than one colour. However, the speakers may vary in their appearance, there will be "goldish" (like the red and beige one) and "silverish" (like the blue and beige one) variations, and there will be dark themes where the parts (e.g. the strings that separate the colours) will be either dark steel or even black. One single Zendling badge should - if possible - fit all these different themes.

Don't get confused with the fact that the pictures are showing all silver (and not gold) button panels on the top of the speaker. These are our first prototypes, later speakers will have button panels that fit the silver, gold or dark steel theme, including corresponding buttons.

The badges will be fixed on the front panel with screws that can be invisibly attached at the back of the badge, but they could also be bolted through the badge and be used as a design element.

The font should of course be vintage and all rock'n roll. You'll find two examples of what we think might work in the pictures (the fonts are "Rocket Script" and "REAMRCLE"). However, anything that works better is appreciated.

The picture with the yellow square on the front clothing of the speaker should help you to get an impression about the size and the proportions of the boxes. The square is a post-it with about 75 by 75 millimeters (or three by three inches). The badge can of course be of different size, and pls place it where you feel it should be.

What would you put on this speaker?

Employer Feedback

“Andres is one of those few designers who don't hit the "send"-button to upload an entry before they are really happy with their own work. Every single entry from Andres was high-quality, tasteful, and often surprising. We had close more than 180 entries for our competition, but Andres' proposals were simply the best. Thank you, Andres.”
