## BIO **John Wright** * * * **Objective** It is my ambition to continue evolving my over eleven years of experience in the Web Development/Design service industry. HTML/DHTML programming with Alaire's Homesite, Macromedia's Dreamweaver or simply using Notepad is my true strong point, but I have built on my experience over the years adding JavaScripting, web graphics/animation, ASP support and some CGI to my HTML/DHTML abilities. I also have a background in traditional 2D design foundations, including experience with such graphical programs as Adobe Photoshop and Image Ready, Corel, PageMaker etc. * * * **Experience** **Vail Systems**, (2001-Present) Deerfield IL, Web Developer - Responsible for the complete life cycle of the companies branded websites including their intranet, public site, and VXML developer's site. I generate the initial design comps in Adobe Photoshop to achieve the desired look and feel theme for the each of the inter-connected sites. After editing the comps and getting approval for the design I took the designs and generated them into HTML/DHTML pages using HomeSite, coding in cross-platform JavaScript support. Last I assist the backend programmers (either CGI or PHP) to implement their scripts into the pages. **Chicago Compactors**, (2001-Present) Chicago IL, Freelance, Contract HTML/DHTML/PHP programmer - Telecommute position. Generating PHP site from the ground up. Using the content and basic IA of the client's out dated existing site it was my responsibility to generate a cleaner, more professional and contemporary "look and feel" for the customer. I generated all the graphics for the new design, implemented new PHP functionality to each of the pages and DHTML style sheet classes to the whole site, creating clean cross platform HTML, easy to upate PHP template pages and form to email responders. **Xceed Inc.**, (1999-2001) Chicago IL, Technologist - I worked within the Technical Team as an HTML/DHTML programmer for major, multi-million dollar web sites. Implementing the latest technologies to give these large clients the best site available for their budget. Developing not only clean, precise, multi-platform HTML code, but also researching DHTML solutions and doing JavaScript development to enhance a site's potential. The evolution of these projects generally meant that I built these sites from the IA Department's wire frames and the Creative Department's comps and cut graphics (offering support in creating smaller graphics, such as buttons, etc as needed). For more complex sites with a technology "backend" I would implement the ASP and Perl/CGI code from the Development Team into the finished HTML/DHTML format page, inserting the proper design elements (i.e. css style sheets) into the developers code. I also would do preliminary testing on the code and make sure the functioning was correct, inform the developer if there was a problem with code, assist in tracking down the bug, and perform minor edits to the code as needed. Due to this type of working relationship I have a strong understanding of both ASP and CGI and it is my goal to be a full-fledged programmer of these languages in the near future. **Stone Studios**, (2001) Chicago IL, Freelance, Contract HTML/DHTML programmer - Telecommute position on a continuing, as needed basis. My responsibilities include cleaning up code developed by either the design person or the backend developer, making it stable cross platform. I also implement DHTML style sheet classes throughout the site and create include files (either ASP or CGI depending on what type of server the site is going to be served up on) in order to ease long term maintenance. **Wetnose Online**, (2001) Chicago IL, Freelance, Contract HTML/DHTML programmer - Telecommute position. Generate a web version of the clients printed brochure. Using the theme of the printed material I generated a website with the same "look and feel" as marketing materials already in place. Building everything from the ground up, it was my responsibly to find an ISP for the site that would fit within the client's budget, generate the architecture for the site, create all the graphics and the functionality, and lastly the basic code. Implementing DHTML style sheets, simple JavaScript, and cross platform HTML coding to give the client a polished site. **Perfect Scents**, (2001) Chicago IL, Freelance, Contract HTML/DHTML programmer - Telecommute position. Doing a complete overhaul of a client's existing website. Using the content and basic IA of the client's old existing site it was my responsibility to generate a cleaner, more professional and contemporary "look and feel" for the customer. I generated all the graphics for the new design, implemented new CGI functionality to each of the pages and DHTML style sheet classes to the whole site, creating clean cross platform HTML and customizing a turn key CGI shopping cart that the client's ISP offered. **Liska Associates**, (1999) Chicago IL. Free-lance, Contract HTML Programmer - Short- term position, I assisted the tech team on catching up with projects that had fallen behind. This involved taking approved designs from the graphic artist and creating an interactive website from the concepts. **Helus**, (1998-1999) Chicago IL., Free-lance, Contract Web Designer. Working as a part of a team to assemble a dynamic web-site for a healthcare investment consultation firm. Responsibilities included generating HTML pages using old and new content, generating new graphics, coordinating with a separate group to incorporate dynamic Domino pages to the site. * * * **Education** Associates Degree in Graphic / Design from Academy of Art, Chicago IL (1990) A general degree in the fundamentals of 2D design. * * * **Sample URL's** <http://www.vailsys.com> <http://www.cat.com> http://www.chiago-compactors.com http://www.girlscouts-chicago.org http://www.westmanassociates.com ## Area of Expertise HTML DHTML CSS JavaScript Web Design Web Graphics Flash CGI/Perl ASP PHP
