I'm an office manager with a Bachelor of Commerce (Business Management) degree, and an avid reader with a knack for picking up on errors that might creep in unnoticed. As part of my daily duties, I am tasked to proofread medico-legal reports, type up documents from handwritten notes, and decipher doctors' handwriting in medical records. I have a reasonably quick typing speed with high accuracy and attention to detail. If it's not perfect (or as close to perfect as humanly possible) it's not leaving my desk. Working in the timber, retail, manufacturing, and medico-legal industries over the past 20 years, I have found that admin is definitely my "thing". My most job satisfaction comes from knowing that I have made someone else's life easier by ensuring that processes run smoothly (as they should), that the t's have been crossed, and the i's have been dotted. Grammar ranks very high on my list of important things in the workplace (and in life, in general). Poor grammar reflects poorly on the person using it, regardless of their qualifications. If I can prevent that from happening by fixing a few mistakes here and there, I'm a happy camper :-)
