“What can I say...! ...they are absolutely brilliant. Incredible. They will look fantastic in the magazine...”
Charles Baker, publisher, Diplo Magazine
I am a young and creative illustrator just starting out my career and looking to make a name for myself. A 2005 graduate of the prestigious Central St Martins College of Art, London, with a BA (hons) Graphic Design (specialising in Illustration), I spent my time at college obsessed with drawing and trying to integrate conceptual ideas with concrete images.
Fascinated by the cult of celebrity and the rise in popularity of 'aspirational' or 'lifestyle' living, a lot of my personal projects reflect the darker side of the best things in life. On the surface, fashion conscious tableaux of the beautiful people living the good life, look a little deeper and you will see insecurities and doubts that plague us all.
A majority of my work is created from sketches of group situations and interactions between people, I will play with composition and the juxtaposition of bodies, the sketches are then imported into photoshop where I can add colour or work up the image with vector shapes as I see fit. I love to work on the computer and find that this blend of the traditional methods of drawing in pen and ink and vector work suits me well. I love the character that comes from hand-drawn images and the energy that is inherent in the quality of an ink mark and find it often mixes wonderfully with sharp, crisp color.
My work is suitable for many purposes and media including
fashion
advertising
cd covers and record covers
book jackets and
editorial.
In the main I produce figurative / portrait work and lifestyle images, but am also skilled at producing product illustrations and drawings of buildings or cities.
