Design / Illustration / CAD lecturer

Jan 2012 - Sep 2012 (8 months)

I was responsible for a series of tasks including teaching classes, lesson planning and marking. As it were creative subjects and smaller groups of students (maximum 12 students per class), my biggest focus was on quality and individualised attention. By the end of the course all of the candidates were able to draw, and some had advanced to a distinction level.

Illustration Lecturer

Jan 2010 - Nov 2011 (1 year)

Responsibilities included presenting classes according to teaching material supplied by Damelin, lesson planning, briefing of assignments and marking. Marking templates were supplied by the college and intensive care had to be taken when filling in the marking sheets. There were various categories which needed to be taken into account and here I learned a lot about the criticalities that need to be taken into consideration when evaluating the quality of work presented.

Freelance corporate wear designer and CAD illustrator

Jan 2009 - Nov 2011 (2 years)

Unitex my responsibilities include liaising with clients, design and garment CAD illustration and storyboard illustrations. Through my experience of working with Unitex I learned a lot about the boundaries of corporate wear design, the manufacturing processes, working according to incredibly tight deadlines and dealing with colleagues who are under tremendous pressure.

Freelance stylist

Oct 2008 - Dec 2012 (4 years)

With Palm Tree the position entailed a number of various responsibilities. Closely working as part of team, I would be expected to complete any task in need of completion. Tasks were varied and included designing to brief, patternmaking, clothing alterations, consultations with clients and styling high profile clients on event nights according to party themes.

Being both the owner and overall manager of the business, I find myself responsible for many business operations such as marketing strategies and campaigns which include branding, social media marketing, trend research as well as market research. I operate as the head designer and patternmaker, and delegate tasks to my assistant whom I permanently employ.
