Simply stated, I like data, and I love programming. Within the intersection of those two things lies artificial intelligence and machine learning. Most of my time, both professionally and personally, has been spent in pursuit of knowledge and applications of AI and ML. I was immersed in AI way before it was cool. And there's never been a more exciting time for the industry than right now. More generally, however, my passion is coding. I code professionally, and I code in my free time. My go-to language is Python, but I've developed professionally in C, C++, Java, C#, Ruby, VB, and have experience in many others. I gravitate towards difficult problems, such as R&D type problems, math- and science-based problems, or optimization. But I've developed across a variety of stacks, from the database layer to front-end web/mobile, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks. I've been in the industry for over 20 years in some form, across a variety of markets: academia, agriculture, health care, energy, and environmental. As well, I've been the client that has hired contract developers, so I know the expectations, and I can navigate the pitfalls. I deliver on-spec, on-time, and within budget. I currently work for an exciting startup in the sleep industry. I freelance part-time to keep my skills sharp in other technologies and stay current.
