I started out by building a website in Drupal, creating custom php/html templates, using SASS to optimize CSS development as well as custom pages to run custom Javascript. Also learned to run slideshow apps along custom CSS, while fixing client photos to fit into that app and function without any visual problems.
I gained a lot more experience working on the front and backend of a RAILS application alongside an expert. I learned how to deploy code changes to GIT, revert versions with GIT, and use bitbucket to research the older pushes to git. Lately I have had even more responsibilities with the expert retiring, such as upgrading the website from Rails 4 to 5.2.2. and running into a few issues with gems along the way.
AJAX was added to allow educational lesson creation to be optimized. Adapted backend code to work with the frontend to allow educators to control the order of their assignment problems to be changed via drag and drop.
I have also managed the databases with running updates to allow new users and user roles, and have created a secure login page required for all users. Utilized Cancan, Devise and Rolify modules to allow users to have certain accesses to pages and navigation buttons based on their assigned role. Control of the buttons they may see is also limited by their role, as is the pages they try to access. Standard Educators may view samples provided by other educators but may only edit the data that they have solely created. Also continued development of Ruby code to parse math problems into a new step based on the skill selected. Well versed in using Git to stage changes, remove them or reset the current environment back to an older version. Configured an Ubuntu 14.04 developer environment and two more modern Ubuntu 16.04 developer environment for other team members. Updated all three from Rails 4 to Rails 5.2.2., notably having to fix and debug the paloma javascript setup as it failed after the upgrade.
