If all you need is a high poly viewer of a single model for browsers I could just build that for $25 an hour using Unreal Engine. Unreal has a far more robust rendering pipeline and can do way better occlusion culling, and I have a lot of experience working with that. I understand you're looking for research on how other unity games are achieving this but if your end goal is a mobile model viewer, I can help accelerate that whole process.
