Write a method to Import .CSV files into MS SQL 2012

Hi Kevin, I hope you're well! This is Janos from Hungary and I'd like to help you on this. I have a vast experience with SQL and .net development from both an ERP development (corporate) and freelancing and can deliver this either as a CLR procedure or as a windows service application that you can just install on the server. I understand you have two tables that need to be populated and the CSV files' content does not vary. I assume there is a relation between the two tables, which I'll need to understand - please can you upload the file, it appears there's no attachment. I can do with receiving this only after being awarded though, I do not expect a lot of complexity. Please can you explain about the CSV files though - are they guaranteed (can we assume) to be correct (contain all fields and within acceptable ranges for SQL)? If so, this should be a no-brainer. Hi, This can be achieved by two ways: 1. using SQL Server BULK insert and xp_cmshell command to read files. 2. Design a C# application that will watch this folder and found new file pass it to SQL Server and then move it to destination folder. I have 9 years experience in C#, Win-Forms, ASP.NET/ MVC with Jquery/Ajax and for services using WCF/Rest WCF/Rest Web ApI and SQL Server 2008/R2/2012 for back-end. Hello, Can you please share more details on actual tables and the example csv files and the common column you said. I dont see any attachments. I have multiple approaches to do - simplest - powershell (or bactch) script using bcp if there are no transformations. Even if there are, this is the simplest. Other approaches of writing in C#. There are all sorts of possibilities. Since you are running MSSQL, I assume you are running on a Windows host and have access to the scheduled tasks. What I can do for you is make a script that will read the directory for any files and import them into the tables. Only requirement is that there is a field-mapping available. (What column in the CSV file should go in what database table and column?) If there are any rules for the files, as for what to do with failed records and such, please provide them.
