With the recent flourish of social networks and the rapid development of vehicular networks in the context of intelligent transportation systems and smart cities, Vehicular Social Networks (VSN) have emerged as a new communication paradigm for social networking on the roads. VSNs aim to create a distributed social network that allows travellers to satisfy their strong social instincts and share their travelling experience and social interests with each other. However, besides the inherited security and privacy concerns of communications in vehicular networks, human mobility, morality, and social preferences are new factors that need to be considered when addressing the security, privacy and trust issues in VSNs. Bearing in mind that users on the road are mostly strangers and anonymous to each other, how can we encourage them to trust each other and socialise without boundaries or worries regarding their security and privacy? You need to have skills in C/C++ programming and simulation software (e.g., OMNet++).
