Proofreading of a book translated from Portuguese to English

Hi Everybody, First of all, let me explain what I have already done: I am a Brazilian author, and I have nine books written, six of which have already been published in Portuguese. Now I’m aiming at the American and German markets. I chose four books out of the six ones I have published here in Brazil and decided to translate them into English first. For this purpose, I projected a work in three steps (well, actually, I didn’t project it, I simply began exploring possibilities and this “method” began to take form by doing what the next step called for): The first two steps have already been covered, and the books are now in plain English, with a Portuguese "accent". That’s where I want to get. I think that with all the attention I’ve used in correcting the text that came out of Google Translator (this was done in order to spare time and retyping it all, but by no means have I left remnants of the absurdities that come out of an online translator, I've already done the first proofreading), the text still doesn’t sound like American English. It is correct and one can perfectly understand the stories, but there’s still a pronounced taste of foreign language. That’s what I would like to eliminate, and make the texts sound like ordinary American English. I could say what you will be doing is: you have a school work from a weak student. His English is not that good. It’s correct and it perfectly conveys the idea. But if you could rewrite some portions of it, it would give a much better impression. We could begin with one book, a thriller that takes place exactly in the US, and see how it works. Then we’ll be able to continue. What do you think? So, my suggestion is: let's start with one book, it has 127 pages in word format, 41,000 words already translated and having undergone a first proofreading. I'll offer a smaller price, since I cannot talk to anybody here as it would be better in an open negotiation. If you accept this first work, if we agree to do it and I approve of the final result, we`ll talk about the other three ones and I promise to ;pay higher fees.
