Brief

Write a line of code which will filter the output of a Joomla module.

Detail

I am using a Joomla component called jReviews and without much effort it does almost everything I need for my website project. Unfortunately the one thing it lacks is the ability to output reviews in a K2 blog (magazine) style layout.

With K2 article listing pages, articles can be output in 4 styles (Leading, Primary, Secondary and Links) to give a magazine/newspaper layout so the latest article is most prominent whilst older articles progressively take up less screen space. A developer of a K2 website might have the following set-up: 1 Leading article, 2 Primary articles, 4 Secondary articles and finally 5 links which the user then clicks through to view the full article. As I stated jReviews can list reviews but they are all the same style so a bit dull.

What I have done to get the same effect is made copies of the jReviews Reviews Module and published 4 of these on a page. Please view the [url removed, login to view] to see the output.

However the problem you will quickly notice is that all the modules display the same reviews so there needs to be a way to apply an \"offset\" in order for the modules display different reviews.

Delivery

Fortunately within the backend settings of this module there is a field under Advanced Filters called \"Custom WHERE\" (see [url removed, login to view]) that allows the administrator to enter filter code to create an offset. The freelancer\'s task is to deliver this code to achieve an offset.

For a further explanation, if you look at the screenshot of my website you will see I have just 1 Leading review so the offset of that module will be O as I want the latest review to be the leading review. Next down the page is the Primary module and that would have an offset of 1 as I don\'t want to display the same review as the module above. As the Primary module displays 2 reviews, the offset of Secondary module would be 3 (1+2). Finally the Secondary module displays 4 reviews so the Links module requires an offset of 7 (1+2+4).

jReviews have the below documenatation on using these fields.
