Hi, I have been working on databases for over 20 years now. Been freelancing for five years. I worked, fairly recently, on a couple of bigger data projects - about 50 million rows in the database. And I learned how to get larger queries working in a timely fashion. Database design and work has three different levels. (1) You have to make the tables work well with the app and its needs. Sometimes fancy and proper is not as good as efficient, so occasionally one has to duplicate data to get faster results. (2) You need to make the tables and indexes well designed so that they store the data in the best trade off for saving physical/ram memory vs lookup time. Ideally all the tables are loaded into memory and do not have to swap off disk. (3) Tune the mysql instance, tables and indexes to work with the data. Tweaking the instance can produce , sometimes, a lot of gain I would be willing to sign a NDA, and I listen to Spotify every day, normally heavy metal and indi. From Texas, USA .
