I need a function that forces WP login to HTTP Digest login using the WordPress credentials (username and password) and also clears the authentication session on logout.

It is preferable to use classes. The function should fire into login_head header('HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized') along with other required headers, handle the login and logout processes.
