I have the source code to a VB program. I need that code evaluated by a highly qualified VB programmer. This will lead to ongoing work and maintenance of the code, and possibly even a major rewrite. This phase of the project, however, and the scope of this bid, is to simply take a close look at the source code and evaluate it. The program is part of an academic research project. It takes a video, and while the video plays, records input from a subject watching the video. The input is entered with a joystick. For example, a video of a person laughing is played. The viewer is asked to rate how happy the person in the video is. As the video plays, the viewer moved the joystick up and down to indicate how happy the person is, and the program records the joystick movements. The output of the program is a simple tab delimited text file. That file gets imported into other analysis programs for later use (we don't have to worry about that part, exporting a text file works fine). The program currently does all this perfectly well. The original code was written by a graduate student who has now graduated and no longer is available to help with development. So, I'm looking for outside professional help! What I need to know initially are things like: What video formats does the program support? What codecs/drivers are necessary, if any, and can they be bundled to ensure they work on a wide variety of computers? Can we have it read .vob video formats? etc. As part of our research project, we want to distribute this program to other academic institutions for their use, but to do so we need to document it better than it is currently. As you can see this project will focus VERY heavily on video technology, as it is really just a video player with an extra function of recording user input. This bid is for an evaluation ONLY! After that, I will hire you to work on the bugs.
