This isn't a problem, it can be done very quickly. Possible change your table storage engine, up cacheing, run an analyzer that will tell us what's consuming your CPU and create your DB problems. To briefly define high CPU usage , it has to do with Housekeeping or Index related, sorting is the one which uses highest CPU.
