A. if you trying to convert only the database(attribute) part of the shapefile then my work approach was detailed on my milestone. B. if your trying to convert the shape(spatial and attribute) then my approach would be: 1. create a mysql database schema. 2. check the data at hand(your shapefile source) , check the attribute for special characters etc, i'm assuming that the shapefile name would be the same as the table name, and the shapefile attribute field would be the field name, otherwise please specify. 3. use gdal for the data conversion 4. check for the final output 5. delivery would be in self-contained sql file ready for import, or as for your request
