Java forms to: • A Login form to allow authorised users to access the application. • Dependant on the department they work the user should only have access to the side of the application they are authorised to use. i.e. first phase retail staff should only access point of sale. The point of sale should : • Conduct a sale transaction. o Adjust the stock quantity of items sold. • A transaction should reference each item in it. E.g. a user purchases in one transaction (soap, lotion, cough mixture, eye drops) • Each transaction should reference the customer who made it. • Each transaction should reference the retail personnel who handled it. • A feature to search the current stock status of each item, by ID. • Adhere to the ICONIX robustness diagrams rules of Boundary, Control and Entity objects. • As a software developer dealing in database connected applications you need to be aware of security issues such as SQL injections. Ensure your form input fields that will be used as parameters passed to your SQL queries. Use at least two defences. • Ensure the user interfaces adhere to Shneiderman's "Eight Golden Rules of Interface Design": 1 Strive for consistency. 2 Enable frequent users to use shortcuts. 3 Offer informative feedback. 4 Design dialog to yield closure. 5 Offer simple error handling. 6 Permit easy reversal of actions. 7 Support internal locus of control. 8 Reduce short-term memory load.
