Hi. I have experience in building games and game engines in a variety of languages and tools incuding Java. Creating a Game Engine from scratch is a lot of work even for a simple one like this. Please take a look at the suggested milestones. I added "Basic 2D Level Editor" and "Enemies/Custom Scripting" since you also want ease of use but they are optional.
