Hi,
Thanks for the opportunity to bid on your project.
APPROACH:
1. 1st read: read your script once straight through without making a single note—this gives me an overall sense of your story.
2. 2nd read: mark up areas where I see both opportunities and problems and then forward you a copy of the original script with those notes which would cover both strengths and weaknesses in all aspects of the script: characters, plot, pacing, reveals, heroes and villains, dialogue, and so on.
3. After the two of us go over the notes together, via chat or Skype or whatever, and decide on a course of action, and only then, would I begin making the changes to the script.
4. At each 25-page mark (+/-), I would forward those pages to you for your review—each of these would be a milestone. (I’m assuming that your script is around the 100-page mark.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
My profile has excerpts from two of my own feature-length scripts as well as a novel which will give you an idea of the range of my voice.
Also, I have read at least 100 award-winning, produced scripts over the years so I have developed a good sense of what works in a script and what doesn’t.
I base my own work and any for-hire work on John Truby’s “The Anatomy of Story” and Robert McKee’s “Story”. If you are not familiar with them, I can’t recommend them highly enough. Indispensable.
Please let me know if I can provide more details or answer any questions.
Best of luck in your search.
Kent
