I'm currently seeking an editor for a comedic novel that's currently 56,000 words. This project is for the first book in a series, and I would like to find someone that will work on this book, and eventually continue working through the rest of the series. For this project, I'm looking for an editor who can: • Go over my work, fixing grammatical and spelling errors so it's in publishable quality with no mistakes • Note any cliché’s, and remove any unnecessary words in sentences • Rearrange sentences so the story flows better. I don't want this done excessively, but if you see something like "the stupidity of my family can’t be explained" and think it would be better if it said "family stupidity is hard to explain" then please make the appropriate recommendation. • Make occasional comments on how the writing in the story could be improved and mention any plot holes or things that don't make sense. • Make suggestions on improving characters and their motivations, (ex. "Valentino would never say/do something like that!") Note: The two things I want above all else are for there to not be any major story errors/issues and for it to read and flow well so it's enjoyable for the reader. Here's the process I'd like to use for the project: 1. You edit, using Track Changes in Word. You also make any comments or suggestions that you see fit. 2. I go through everything, accepting/rejecting your suggestions. Also making any story edits from your comments. Then send back to you. 3. You then go through each chapter a final time, exclusively looking for spelling/grammar errors and making it 100% error-free. Again, using the track changes feature to send back to me so I can see what things are being fixed. At first, we'll do this chapter by chapter. Once we both get a feel for working together, I'll give you the go ahead to go through the entire story. Type of person I'm looking for: 1. Great attitude takes great pride in creating error-free stories that really makes readers unable to put the book down. 2. Someone with a strong grasp of what makes a comedic story, and what makes characters really come to life on the page. 3. The more experience with editing, the better. But I wouldn't rule out a current, talented English Major with little experience and hungry to get started. 4. Someone who is a real go-getter. I have a goal of writing a million words per year and would love to have an editor that really wants to have that kind of work and make beautiful stories together for the next decade. 5. Someone who can get things done in a reasonable time frame and responds to emails within at least 2 business days. Compensation 1. I'm looking to pay around $600 for this job. If you feel you're worth a little more or willing to work for a little less, please let me know why in your bid. All things are negotiable, including work being done and time frame of delivery. 2. I would prefer to make full payment after completed work. However, if you want installments of half the payment when we're halfway through, and the other half after completing the work. I'm flexible on that, too. Finally, I really need you to go through and do a sample edit, so I can get a feel for your editing style to see if it's a good fit for what I'm trying to accomplish. I'll only ask you if I think there's a very good chance you could win the project. Also, I want to make sure you've read the requirements, so in your reply start by saying "collaborated and exaggerated”, along with why you would make an ideal candidate, your background, your estimated time of completion, and your compensation. Thank you and I look forward to working with you! Val

Hi! My current bid is $600, based on your budget; once I've taken a look at the manuscript and can better gauge the time and work needed, I'll be better able to tell if that's an appropriate budget or if my bid needs to (or can) be adjusted. I've edited dozens of now published manuscripts and love working with authors to ensure their works are fully ready for publication; I would love to do the same for you. I always use a mix of comments and track changes as I work, and every editing job includes two passes through each section. Please don't hesitate to reach out so we can discuss further; I'm happy to share relevant samples. Thanks for your time, and I hope to talk more soon!

"Collaborated and Exaggerated". Hello, It is refreshing to bid on a project where the employer knows exactly what he/she wants and expresses it clearly. That being said, I would love to participate in your project, and here are the reasons why am I a good option: * I am a published ghostwriter, so everything you described, the whole process is familiar to me. I've worked with editors, fixing, correcting and enhancing my words. I've been exactly where you are. * I am an extremely fast reader and I am a book devour; trust me I will know your characters as much as you do. Along with writing, reading is my passion. * I have experience editing, however I'm a newcomer in the field. (Hence my low bid, I would do this for the experience and pleasure). Last but not least, I am, as you described, a go-getter. I am self-motivated and I am very punctilious about grammar/spelling. I hope to have a chance to work with you.

Hello, i would be happy to edit your book. I will correct the grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and sentence structure, note any cliché’s, remove unneeded words, ensure the sentences flow well, give comments as you requested, and give suggestions to improve the characterizations. I will ensure there are no plot holes, submit the corrections to you, and then go through the book again, responding to your comments. I am allowing 30 days since you need time to go through the book, and then I need to edit it a second time. Since you want me to go through the book twice, I have to charge for 112,000 words rather than 56,000. I usually earn $3 per page for proofreading and $4.25 for editing, and freelancer.com takes a commission from my earnings. Let me introduce myself. I’m a professional editor and proofreader with 36 years of experience, which includes working on fiction and nonfiction books, academic papers at the PhD level, business documents and textbooks. My Bachelor's degree is in English. I use Microsoft Word with the Track Changes feature turned on. I offer you excellent quality work. My work has earned a 4.9 out of 5 rating from 195 employers, as shown at https://www.freelancer.com/u/jw010699.html. My clients' comments include, "You have done a great job. Thank you, Julie,” “Great! Julie, as always thank you a lot for your attentive editing!” and “Julie does excellent and professional work.” I would enjoy editing your book. Best regards, Julie Webb

** collaborated and exaggerated** Hi Val: I understand that you want me to review, edit, make editorial comments on your 56,000-word comedic novel that includes two passes on the document — one before you review my comments and a second review after you have assessed my review — all while using track changes, and my pointing out plot holes, catching awkward phrases like “family stupid” etc. (By the way, I CAN explain why my family is stupid – smile, but I get your point.) And of course, you want me to have a great attitude while working on the project. I can do all of that for you. I am a college professor of English Writing and Composition, and formerly a hands-on editor of a major newspaper where I edited many dozens of articles and wrote and published many dozens of my own articles. I have a 5-Star rating and I finish projects on T.I.M.E. I placed my bid on the lower end because I think it’s important for us to chat/talk. You are asking for a lot of work for $700 dollars — 56,000 x2=112,000 !! You want comments, suggestions, alterations and plot hole advice and you only want to pay once or twice. I suspect this is your first novel. I know how much work it takes to do what you want and to do it well will cost more. So be careful that you don’t end up paying for a sloppy editor who has no clue of what’s going on except running Spellcheck and Grammarly and handing it back to you. [Ran out of space. contact me. You'll want to see the remainder of my comments. It's IMPORTANT

Hi Val, "Collaborated and exaggerated". I can do a really great job with your proofreading and editing. I currently run my own editing business, where I routinely proof and edit all kinds of texts: essays, dissertations/theses, fiction, articles, etc.. Some details about me: - Native English speaker - BA and MA degrees (English), CELTA qualified - Published novelist, short story writer and poet - Managed an editing and proofreading service for several years My bid assumes the stated word count doesn't go up too much. I am dedicated to my business and would be happy to work with you to get the work done to a high standard by your deadline or sooner. For testimonials, please view my profile or visit my website: STPediting(dot)wordpress(dotcom)/testimonials/ I will: - Check your book for spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors - Assist with each point listed in your project description (thanks for being thorough) - Work to your specifications and deadlines Please consider me for the job. Firstly "collaborated and exaggerated”. Hi, I’m Bella, a professional copy-editor from New Zealand. I have had the privilege of working with budding and experienced authors, primarily in non-fiction thus far. I have a great passion for the written word and love being a part of the process of polishing and producing books and documents that people will read. For long books, I also like to work section by section so I get a feel for how much editing you are looking for and to ensure that both parties are happy, and I am absolutely happy to do a short sample edit for you. Project bid price is $630. I am happy to do this as one payment at the end, or split into parts for the chapters or sections as we do them. Turn-around time is 15 days. This is the time I need with the document and doesn’t include the time it takes for you to do your checks between the editing and proofing phases. I would relish the chance to become a part of your process and help you bring your words to the world. If you have any questions please let me know. Bella

collaborated and exaggerated “A very good writer, like few on this platform.” “A+ quality. The writing was very well done and required no edits by me. Wrote with a voice that my readers will be able to easily follow. Researched the topic well, too.” Recent client reviews. See all reviews. Background I am a native English speaker with 3 degrees – who just retired from a 30-year career in teaching. As a teacher, I have designed many different types of communication: newsletters, blogs, reports, websites, proposals, powerpoint presentations and speeches for conferences. I have honed my skills in research, explanation, and clarification. Recently I have been writing SEO articles for law firms, technology blogs, tourism, renovations, health, & large car dealerships. EDITING YOUR BOOK You have been very clear on your requirements and that makes every task much easier. I agree with all of your terms but I would prefer to make 1 milestone for half of the work. An editor needs to be considerate of the original creator and make suggestions to clarify the ideas in the article using a similar tone. While editing for sense, I will read every sentence in detail looking for any inconsistencies, believability of characters and clear expression of ideas. I look forward to a sample editing task as I would want to make sure there was a good fit from both sides. Work Ethic I will work diligently to meet your needs. I will be able to estimate the time better after the sample edit.

Hello, EBooks are the way of the future. There is a leaning towards reading content on an EBook, because so many of us have smartphones and easy accessible technology to use in order to read our EBooks. The difference between writing for hard copy and writing for an eBook, is understanding technology and computers. I am a writer of books, both hard copy and EBooks. The same skill is needed for both. being I have experience in both. I love creating and informing the client the way in which to grow his or her business through this medium, including short novels for the EBook market. I am comfortable with uploading images, content and making the whole concept go live for the client once it has been approved. Regards

Hello, I offer any kind of editing/rewriting/proofreading and complete them expertly ready within short time. I will ensure a plagiarism free article. Plagiarism is generally grounds for failure of a course and can lead to dismissal from college; in this case it should be avoided or prohibited. You must always have a reference page as well as in-text citations to avoid plagiarism. The Reference Page immediately follows the text of the paper. Items on the reference page are listed alphabetically. If you use another person's idea or paraphrase another person's words, be sure to use your own language and style of writing - don't simply rearrange the words. The scope of my services also extends further to detailed descriptions and correction of grammatical errors. Regards

Hi, Val. I've collaborated successfully with 12 authors so far, making rumors of my retirement greatly exaggerated. True, I left my journalism career in 2008 after 37 years as a copy editor, but my love of words and enhancing writers' texts won't be denied. As a compassionate editor, I care about the project at hand as much as its creator. That means I edit a book three times, working to improve flow, create vibrant dialogue and add fillips of spontaneous creativity that make a story more compelling. Check out my Freelancer.com feedback for testimonials. Also, I have a keen sense of humor and enjoy writing jokes based on word play, although these don't fit into most tales. An example: "Why did all the flying dinosaurs die out? Because too many of them bred with sterildactyls." Anyway, send me a sample to edit for FREE and see what I can do for you. Thank you! -- David L. Gaskill
