1. Project brief – research and telephoning 1.1 Objective Ambition Property Group need to find people (prospective tenants) who need to rent a room in a house in (or around) Plymouth, UK, on a short to long term basis. We currently find people through advertising rooms to rent on a number of websites – spareroom, easyroommate, gumtree. We want to be more pro-active and make contact with local employers who take on new staff or sub-contractors on a regular basis so that they will contact us when their new employees or subcontractors need to find somewhere to live or stay. We want to become their preferred supplier. Additionally, there may be contracts for work that are planned for the area where companies based elsewhere will bring its staff here to do work. We think that there may be several ways of finding out about this e.g. looking on the planning website, looking on Plymouth city council website, looking on news websites (e.g. Plymouth Herald) to find out what is happening. I expect the researcher to demonstrate initiative in doing this task. We are already aware of plans to build a new train station for example. Also a lot of house building in Sherford. And American Bridge’s current maintenance work on Tamar Bridge. There is a lot of construction due in the next 10 years or so. Plymouth has many large employers who we think would benefit from this service and that would benefit us by Ambition Property Group becoming their preferred supplier. 1.2 Summary 1. Identify employer. 2. Identify point of contact (e.g. human resources or similar?) 3. Explain That Ambition Property Group offer short term accommodation, how do we get on their preferred supplier list, do they have any people in immediate need of a room, would it be ok to stay in touch on a weekly/monthly basis please? 1.3 Deliverables A spreadsheet that captures the above information in a useful way, with date/time stamps for conversations, names of contact, summary of what was said, name of employer, how often do they take on contractors or new staff, how opportunity was found. We are open to ideas and need to think innovatively on this. If you think you want to do the research but not make the phone calls, please say so, we may split this into 2 separate jobs. We expect questions!  It will need someone with clear spoken English to make calls for best results. End
