The task involves converting pdf files into excel and do a subsequent quality check (the pdfs are OCRed, but with mixed quality).
Overall, the data is drug names, including the trade name (before the first comma), and its chemical name (after the first comma).
The data shall be converted into excel as follows:
The first column is the year of the pdf file as found in the pdf file name.
The second column is the trade name.
The third column is the chemical name.
Please note that some drugs are combination drugs (combining various substances), so there is a trade name, but there are multiple chemical names
I also don't need the section headlines like **A**, **B**, etc.
Attached there is a sample file for a pdf and the output excel file.
Overall, there about 1612 pdf pages of about 35 files, thereof about half of them with mixed quality, while the quality of the remaining pages is much better, leading to faster quality checks.
Quality: the sample file shows the worst quality.
It is the oldest file, and it has about 30 pages with about 10-20 words per page are not recognized at all (which must be entered manually).
Then there are about 800 pages which have 2-4 words per page which are not recognized at all, requiring manual entry.
For about another 800 pages there are no such errors.
Apart from words being not recognized, OCR for about 800 pages does not correctly recognize words with varying extent, which must then be corrected manually.
Again, the oldest file is worst. I also attached sample2, which is from the sixth year and shows much better quality.
Sample3 relates to the newest 50% of the pages, having excellent quality.
