Maya Arnold renderer

Using the Maya Arnold renderer, ender a short 15-20 second animation inside the room you designed in week 10, or one like it. Do this as a fly-through (ie: the camera moving), using slow, precise camera movements to show off the best aspects of your room and develop a sense of space and atmopshere in the viewer. Creatively use light and textures to help convey the desired effect. Try to balance complexity of your 3D objects with the quality of your textures, camera angles and rendering effects to maximise quality. Often quite simple objects can look great if textured and rendered carefully. You may use props from other sites (eg: furniture) but the design and modelling of your room must be original. Note also that as with all assignments in this unit, any use of "found" assets must be cited. Also note that your room should not be a simple box - it should be a fully realised space that conveys a sense of volume (small or large) and which is designed carefully to allow you to create an atmospheric and affective render. The work you start in week 10 will assist with this. Notice that we are building on all your skills from each week of the unit into this final animation; a big part of the final submission is being able to demonstrate how much you have learned all semester.

Render your final using the Arnold renderer and aim for a final resolution of 960x540 (Arnold default), but watch your render times! The higher the quality and the bigger the final video, the more time it will take to render. Adjust your render settings for optimal quality vs. time by doing some test renders on complex frames and multiplying the time (for example, if your average frame takes 2 minutes to render at 25fps then a 20-second animation will require 1000 minutes, or nearly 17 hours to render!).

Key requirements:

At least one UV-mapped texture (please highlight in your reflection)

At least one texture that uses a bump-map (please highlight in your reflection)

Walls, floor and ceilings textured appropriately

Camera moving throughout the animation

Final render using Arnold renderer; do not use an alternate renderer without express permission from your tutor

Submission:

Your Maya file and any other assets you have used to create the animation. We must be able to reproduce the animation from the supplied file, or we may not be able to assess your work

A final render in quicktime or AVI format at 25fps (see the unit web site for tips on how to create this)
