A little help to move website to WordPress platform

I have a website [login to view URL] that is currently in .html with a WordPress blog installed. I want to switch the .html pages over to the WordPress format. I need someone FAMILIAR WITH DREAMHOST to help me make the switch. This includes installing the correct 301 code for about 10 top level pages so I preserve google juice. Dreamhost recommends redirecting with the Redirect or RedirectMatch directives. They have some instructions laid out in our wiki here: [login to view URL] When we're ready to set the redirect, you will want to add this code: Redirect 301 /[login to view URL] [login to view URL] As described in this wiki: [login to view URL] I can set up the pages once the switch has occurred, and I can move all the content. I just need help making the switch so I don't lose blog posts and so I preserve google juice. The navigation will be slightly different than it is currently. This should be a pretty simple project for someone who knows what they're doing. If you're interested, please let me know the steps you would take to move the site.

I am able to help you with this website move. I'm not sure if anybody has explained this to you yet, but I'm not sure why you were told to use 301 redirects. That is for a permanent URL change. Your URLs technically won't be changing at all, you will just be changing the design of your website, and even maybe the host, but your domain name and thus your URLs are staying the same. You can name all your pages the same thing as they are now so when somebody links to them they will see the same page, just in the new format. I will send you a private message with Google's actual stance on using 301 redirects as well. I come from a SEO background and I'm only trying to help you maintain all your rankings. I can build the Wordpress site for you and get it ready, and then briefly teach you how to make all of your pages (it's rather intuitive and you should learn quickly).
