Creating Chrome Extension

I am in need of a simple extension for Chrome. Basically all it does is create a check list so I can keep track of what homework I have completed. I would like a small box on the right side of the assignment that I am able to Check and after it is checked it will be green with the date of when it was clicked. I need the extension to be able to detect the tables of the different tables for example, week one, week two, and so on.
