Design Video Scens for a Play

I. Opening Video – Creation

Description: A 1 minute video simulating the “creation” of earth…beginning with space…the earth rotates into the screen…(sound accompanies with crashes and thunder) it appears that the “camera” is getting closer to earth and breaks its atmosphere…on earth for sunrise over water…(waves sound)…fades to wheat fields, mountains, beautiful natural scenes…fades to night with clouds drifting by the moom, the play’s logo flies to the top right of the screen “A Piece Of My Soul – The Anthology of Gospel”….(big crash or explosion or other sound emphasis as the title hits the screen) --- “The Revival!” comes up shortly thereafter with another sound emphasis. Video fades to black.

Still Imagery – A beautiful stained glass picture that would be in a church or a beautiful cathedral with stained glass windows – must fill the screen. The still image stays on the screen during the opening song.

II. Slave Scene Video – The passage

Description: :30 seconds -- Diagrams of slave ships fly slowly across the screen during the slave narration. Pictures of slaves in chains on boats, a map of the triangle of trade, a slave auction, etc., all fly across the screen…fades to black [African Drums in the background]

Still imagery – Huge colorful, close-up picture of plantation house and land – must fill whole screen. The image stays on the screen for the duration of the slave scene.

Sound Effect: [Tribal drum beats when Slaves are about to leave]

III. Azusa Street Revival Video

Description: :30 seconds – Pictures of old 1920s little wooden churches…images of people from that area going to church…Images of participants in Azusa Street revival (I will provide pictures of the people at the revival) They should fade in and out on the screen. Fade to Black…

Still imagery – Picture of typical old-school wooden church

IV. :30 seconds Pictures of Thomas A. Dorsey or clips of Thomas A.. Dorsey

Still imagery: Large image of famous picture of Thomas Dorsey in white hat. (I can help find) – switch to picture of Sallie Martin when soloist starts to sing.

V. :30 grandmothers Video – Imagery of ethnic grandmothers fades to still image

Still image big beautiful old school family bible opened. - Eventually switch to :30 video clips of the Barrett Sisters performing and fade to still image of the Barrett Sisters press shot.

Sound Effects: [Doorbell or knocks on the screen --]

VI. :30 Five Blind Boys Video Imagery – Clips of Five Blind Boys performing or still imagery moving across the screen. Fades into still imagery

Intermission

VII. 1 Minute - Martin Luther King Video. Civil rights stock video, dogs and water hoses…with Dr, King’s I have a dream speech as the audio --- ends with footage of I have a dream speech ending “Thank God almighty we are free at last” Fades to image of Dr. Martin Luther King

Still imagery – Famous MLK picture.

Sound: [V.O. of King Reporter]

VIII. :30 70’s Scenery. Images from the 70’s – People in Bell Bottoms, afros, dashikis, etc.. fades into still imagery

Still imagery – Radio station logo WAOG (Like a sign for a radio station)

Sound: Phone Rings 6 rings 3 seconds apart

IX. :25 Min – Pictures of burned down churches flying across the screen or fading in and out…fades in still image of inside of burned out church…

:1 Min…LATER – when the song starts – video of actual church burning or just active fire taking up the whole screen…needs to burn for 1 Min

Sounds [:30 seconds of Fire crackling]

X. Albertina Walker Tribute -- :45 Minute of footage of Albertina Walker – Culminates in still image of Albertina Walker Press Shot

Sound [I’m Still here…:20 seconds in middle…]

XI. :45 Jubliee Video – Just production value – dove flying….cool imagery to play during one of the songs in the finale…

Description: People rejoicing…I have some ideas…

Fades into still imagery of our Logo over a black screen.
