Access/MS-SQL Advanced Database Project (Part Two)
Looking for a database freelancer to work on large projects on an on going basis. This could be stable good money for the right person. We need a freelancer with enough time free to work on complex things when we need to, not someone that can only work a few hours a week at night.
This job project here is a small sample of the work to proof yourself qualified and able to work well with our team.
The job requires you to go to about 8 different websites (which we will provide) and download certain databases in multiple different formats, CSV, DBF, TAB etc and with different columns. This data is similar but with different heading and structure. Your job is to follow our instructions (which will be provided) to normalize the data into a single SQL database, which you will send to us.
We will provide detailed instructions on how to download, process and load data from 4 different websites. The remaining 4 other websites and data you will need to figure out how to do, however, if you work on the first 4, you will have experience already in what we need the data to look like, so this should not be a problem to any database person.
This process takes us approximately 2 days to complete in-house, obviously we are looking for someone that will be able to do this in a similar amount of time.
Working advance knowledge in the following:
• MS Access data processing:
o Must know how to work with raw tables (field/table definitions, relationships, etc)
o Import/Export from/to different formats (SQL, CSV, DBF, ETC)
o Build and run queries (append, update and select queries a must!)
o Integration with MS Excel
• MS SQL <--- MUST HAVE INSTALLED AND USING
o Required knowledge of MS-SQL queries or
o At least working-intermediate knowledge of conversion to and from MS SQL
o PostgreSQL and MySQL knowledge desired but not a must
• General
o Must know how to troubleshoot (normalize and standardize) “bad” data
o Must be able to figure out gaps in instructions to make sure there is little to zero down-processing-time
o Must know how to navigate, search and update through Internet links and broken links

I have been working with MSSQL for over 15 years. I am fully experienced as a developer and a DBA.
Currently I am working at big financial organization in which I am responsible for the BI department. I have designed and the Developed the Organization’s Reporting Database which has been constructed with SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition.
The database is being updated daily from the core system with txt or excel files via SSIS or with direct connection at mainframe’s DB2 and a numerous of KPIS are being daily updated during the ETL.
For isolation reasons the KPIS are replicated to another DB (with transactional replication) which exploits the reports via SSRS to the consumers. Some KPIS are being replicated with merged (bidirectional) replication.
Also, 10 Cubes in SSAS are being daily automatically processed and the end of the ETL.
Several other reports are daily automatically produced and sent via email to the recipients.
Finally I have designed and developed the bank’s crm DB which is published on the intranet. The DB holds full information about the customers (Customers,Addresses , Financial Data , Contacts , campaigns , etc) and covers 4 countries.
To achieve this i have made partitions over the country code.
The size of the Reporting DB, is about 4TB and consists of about 4.000 objects and the replicated KPI DB is 350GB.
