Android & Google Map image processing routine

I want to create a routine that can be embedded in a larger Android application that will take a statelite image from google maps and create a simplified view of the image. For example, if you are looking at a neighborhood, it will create an overlay for the map that would change the street from an image to a drawing of a street, the images of houses on the street to a generic drawing of a house, images of trees to a generic image of a tree, etc. I would like this to be a generalized routine with a set of generic landmarks, however I specifically want it to be able to process images of golf courses. It would be able to create generic renderings of the trees, sand bunkers, greens, fairways, etc. The routine would have to work with googles mapping apis for the Android platform. It should work with the scrolling feature of google maps as well. So if they user scrolls to a new area, it would overlay the satelitte image with the generic drawing of that area. As well, I will still need the ability to place additional markers and drawings on top of the rendered drawing. ## Deliverables To demonstrate the routine, you will need to create a test application. This application will simply allow you to pull up an location in google maps (either by GPS location or address). The routine should be able to create the generic representation of the satellite image for anywhere in the world. It is understood that some locations (golf courses) don't have clearly defined fairways or greens or other features. The routine should be able to distiguish features in at least 80% of the satelite images viewed. The images generated should be pleasing to the eye by smothing features. For example, a green and a fairway always have smooth edges, so a routine that approximates the edges and provides a smooth drawing of the image is expected. See the attached image for an example of the input and a sample output. The sample output is very rough. The final image in the application should be much smoother, as if an artist illustrated the image. The image generation should take less than 2 seconds on a typical Android mobile device.
