Automatically create multiple images from one scan

We sell many small items via online auctions, items that can be placed on a scanner. We need seperate images of each item. On the average size scanner we can fit about 30. We need a program to automatically recognize these items and create a seperate image file. It would need to be efficient as we could possibly scan thousands of items daily. We have tried using Photoshop's automated crop and straighten or Element's divide scanned images, but it almost always cuts part of an edge off of the scans. We would prefer a stand alone program, but could also entertain the idea of some sort of script added to Photoshop.

Try the Multi-Crop function within Canon's Photo Studio. Works well for 6-8 separate items...Never tried it with 30.

Hi! What is a nature of your samples ? Rectangular papers, or something else ? May it be necessary to provide separate deskew/rotation for samples ? Is scan background really black, easily separated from sample image ? It would be fine to get a few scan samples, otherwise it's difficult to evaluate necessary efforts

The bid is for a custom stand-alone Windows application that automatically segments an image in a standard format (e.g. jpg, png, tiff) into multiple smaller images. The input image should be made on a scanner, meaning that the background is uniformly white (or any other uniform color). Output images will have the same background color. The images should already be right way up and will not be rotated by the software.
