Codeigniter MSSQL Database Connection

On a Windows 2003 Server is PHP installed. Now is a local database connection needed to the MS SQL Server on the Windows 2003 server.
Codeigniter is used.
To apply tell what you think is needed like drivers and configuration. Most of this is already done but there is an issue somewhere. No error margin possible it is a live system.
