An app for my social network(repost)

I am looking to make an app for my social network. I have a music based social network built on NING. I am looking for a way to highlight some of my friends. Very similar to MYSpace Top 8. Basically the owner of the app will be able to select from members from his friend list and they will be profiled on his page. I am pretty sure this app has to be written in xml.
