$30-50 USD

Our high volume clothing store has automated POS software that prints tags for the garments, including bar code.? Unfortunately, the tag it prints is too large for jewelry.? (We use 1.25x2.25 sticky labels on a Zebra/Eltron printer).? As a result, we use a number of "work-arounds" that are not attractive, involving cardboard, staples, zip ties and the tag our system prints. We have the ability to turn off tag printing and generate our own suitable tags for jewelry.? There are about 20-50 SKUs for the various types of jewelry (rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc at various price points).? ? We would like a little desktop program that we can use to generate the needed tags in an appropriate size (more like 1/2"x 1") The ideal programmer will have a license to ActiveX bar code controls that can be embedded into a simple Access database or Excel spreadsheet.? The user would then merely maintain a database of SKUs and then using report or mail merge, print the number of tags needed in each SKU from time to time.? If no ActiveX control is available, the program will need to allow for user-provided graphic bar codes to be stored with the program. ## Deliverables My best, cheapest solution is to use existing labels, print the bar code as short as is practicable/scannable, and then just cut off any excess length and fold them, top to bottom around a string tie or the jewelry itself so that it forms a thin tag about 1" by 1/2" wtih the bar code on one side and 1-2 lines of text on the other side. No adhesive showing. Next most expensive solution is to purchase jewelry rattail tags (or butterfly tags) that go in the Zebra printer.? Here's an example of a website wtih these tags:? <[login to view URL]>.? Several types available. ? The bar code will have to fit on the printable area of the tag.? Right now the? Product IDs? are all in this format: NHS-NCK-10 or CHS-BRC-5 and so on.? We use Opticon bar code scanners and they will read Code 39 bar code labels just fine, including ones that we have managed to fit 1 bar code, one line of 11 pt text and 1 line of 8pt txt stacked on a standard Avery return address label (which is a nice side except that they are adhesive on the back and we have nothing to stick them to.) Database will have these fields - Product Code, Product Description (short) Bar Code and price (never over $99.99) and tag will need all this information on it. Mockup tag examples can be provided in pdf to winning bidder.
