The web interface is to be used by the three main stakeholders; staff, customers and boat owners. Customers and boat owners will only be able to surf the web site for information, including a search of the database for lists of boats available to rent and any comments made about boats. Customers will be able to send enquiry messages to Boats4U and will also be able to leave comments about the boats they have rented. However, to do this they must first register with the web site and subsequently login to access this facility. Any comments made by customers must be traceable back to the customer and must be approved by staff before they are visible to other customers and boat owners. Any comments made by customers that are not approved must still be stored in the database but should not be visible on the web site. Boat owners will be able to access all comments made about their boats, including ones that are not published. Again, to do this they must register with the web site and subsequently login to access the comments. Members of staff will have access privileges to the database that will allow them to perform maintenance operations on the database. They will be able to register new customers and boat owners and also update their details as and when required. They will be able to perform customised searches for information and display that information on screen. For example, how many boats were viewed in May 2012? As well as functionality mentioned above, staff should be able to: • View a list of all boats on record including location details, boat details and details of the branch that administers the boat. • Insert a new record for a boat for hire • Delete a record for a boat • View a list of all customers including their preferences, when they registered and which branch they were registered at. • Delete a customer record but only at the branch at which they work. • When a boat was viewed and by who.
