Grid Details (For Soccer League Schedule):
9 teams..."N" = 9...(but with dynamic to increase/decrease each season) - play each other twice a season (Home and Away) - 9 x 9 = 81 total cells - Grid (Columns, Rows) = 81
Columns (1, 2, 3...9) represents Home Teams (A, B, C...I)
Rows (1, 2, 3...9) represents Away Teams (A, B, C...I)
For example: cell (Column “5”, Row “2”) = 8; then in week “8”, “E” is home team vs “B” is away team
Length of season, "L": L = [(N-1) x 2] when N is even # ; L = [N x 2] when N is odd #
Games played per week, "G": G = [N / 2] when N is even # ; G = [(N - 1) / 2] when N is odd #
Constraints:
Cell (column, row) = 0, when column = row, since a team cannot play itself
A cell number cannot be repeated in a row or column, or in their corresponding row or column
For example: cell (E, B) = 8; so 8 cannot be repeated in neither column 5, row 2, nor in corresponding column 2 or row 5.
Completing Grid:
Grid allows for manual input to Grid Form’s specific cells before running “solving program” to complete grid
VB Algorithm randomly selects a week number, “W”, between 1 and “L”, and assigned it to an empty cell and moved on to another empty cell to input “W” again until there are “G” numbers of “W”. A new “W” is selected and the process continues until all “W” have been selected and assigned and the grid is full.

Process will be following:
1. You will enter number of Teams
2. Grid will be created and you will be able to make manual entries.
3. System will validate manual entries. In case they are correct (no overlapping) system will fill rest cell with random values.

Thanks for posting the sample table. From my undestanding the user may fill some of the entries in the table and when solve is clicked, the program has to select a random remaining week and fill corrsponding datas for that week and so on, right?

I am an experienced software engineer and have been working with visual basic for more than 10 years. I can solve this problem in multiple ways. One of the way is the round robin approach or randomized version of it. Also algorithm that you proposed with slight modification could also be implemented.

Being a proficient programmer, I see this an opportunity as my first project at freelancer. Here is what I understand:
I will create an Excel workbook with 1 sheet and will place a button, which will populate the grid upon click. I will create additional sheet for settings where the calculation can be made dynamic and number of teams and other details can be changed. This sheet will be hidden by default and can be displayed when needed.

Hello Robbie, I can get this set up for you in VBA, I have 4 years experience with VBA and am confident in setting this up for you. I also have experience creating randomizing equations for dealing with this particular situation(youth leagues). I can also make it scalable for when new teams join the league.
