We are in need of a new PC, but I don't currently have time to go through the vast number of options available looking for information on what is or is not compatible. You are bidding on a project to select a set of compatible hardware that meets our needs. The winning bidder will provide a list of components to build a media centre PC. I will assemble the PC, and you will provide me with simple, comprehensive instructions if installation requires any complex stuff like compiling drivers. Alternatively, if it is easier, you could build the PC and then ship it to me. Or once the system is built, I can give you ssh access so you can complete the installation and setup. In your bid, please provide an estimate of the total cost of components you would select. (The final price I pay for components must not be more than 5% over this estimate) The system will be expected to run Fedora and MythTV. It will include a digital terrestrial capture card (with support for EPG information and a slot for a subscription smartcard if possible). The system will have a remote control, configured for both mythTV and mplayer. I'd quite like to have a wireless game controller which can be used as a remote control for menus/video as well as for playing games, although I don't know if this is feasible or not. If possible, I would also like to have a system with multiple video inputs and minimal lag, such that we could connect the PS2/xbox to it, and allow recording of any particularly memorable stunts we might like to show off to friends. I've heard that some graphics cards can pass video straight through from a video-in to video-out, so that the computer does not cause lag on the recording. But I haven't seen anything on this beyond word of mouth, so please let me know if you know how to set it up.
## Deliverables
1. List of all hardware components and details of where I can purchase them for the price estimated in your bid
2. Either:
* Detailed installation instructions (including step-by-step instructions for anything more complex than 'yum install ...')
* OR
* All drivers and software I have requested, installed and correctly configured on my system
## Platform
The system will connect to our existing TV (S-Video and composite inputs) and 5.1 sound system. We would expect to have at least 400GB of drivespace reserved for recordings. Small size and low noise levels would also be important factors.
