AS-Coder wanted for fixing bugs and programming new features for a flash-based web-application: "Der Zweck, Die Muße" (german only, [url removed, login to view]), an explorative essay about digression, leasure and ease.

Tasks in AS2:

- fixing two bugs

- optimizing the navigation

- optimizing the sound control

## Deliverables

Have a look at the application at [url removed, login to view] and the .fla and Action Script (download: [url removed, login to view]). that will help you understand the description of the task (below). If you have any questions please let me know. TASK LIST :::::::::::::::::::::::::: - bugfix 1: eliminate the sound that occurs when starting the application::::::::: when starting the application using the loader a fragment of an audio pieces occurs. this should be eliminated. - bugfix 2: fixing the “endless-effect??:::::::::::::: the application is made “endless?? by a simple trick: when passing the border of the map “KarteMC?? at the top one enters again at the bottom and vice versa. same thing when crossing the border left or right. this function is quite unreliable. sometimes one walks over the edge of KarteMC and does not get anywhere but into white nowhere. this seems to occurs when the application has been running for a while or one has already crossed the border of KarteMC several times but I could not figure it out by now. - feature1: fade out sound when departing:::::::::::::::: sounds are always triggered by a MC and are accompanied by an animation of that MC while playing. by now one can start a sound and then walk away from the MC that triggered it, but i want the sound to fade out when walking away (the greater the distance the lower the sound). the problem is that the sounds are in the time line which helps to synchronize sound and animation. now one could get the sound off the time line and trigger them by AS so one can control their volume, but the timing and synchronisation mustn’t be affected by that. If the sounds will have to be removed from the time line and put into the AS (which is quite a bit of work as there are more than 40 sounds), I would handle the part of executing this procedure; I just would need to know which lines of code to insert into the AS. - feature 2: “calm zone?? commensurate with the aspect ratio and size of the screen:::::::::::: when keeping the curser within the center of the screen, one does not move; when moving the curser to the edge of the screen, one moves. so far so good. now, what this kind of navigation should do, is this: 1) the size of the “calm zone?? (the area in which the curser does not make the application move) should be depending on the size of the window/screen, in which the application is running (working in window- and full screen mode). 2) In this, both the height and the with should be factored. The clam zone should have the same distance from all edges of the screen. 3) still, the clam zone should have soft edges (like it has now) to enable a smooth speeding up and slowing down of the movement. the speed of the movement should depend on the distance to the edges of the screen. 4) the maximum speed of the movement should be fixed, regardless of the size of the screen/window 5) every parameter (speed of movement, size of the calm zone) need to be adapted afterwards and therefore need to be marked clearly in the AS.
