Desktop / web application delivering a randomly selected Daily Inspirational Quote from an online database - possibly SQL? Requirements: Must run on PC, Macs and Linux systems Also version to run on portable devices such as mobile phones, iPods etc. Similar to the application at <a href="[login to view URL]" target="new">[login to view URL]</a> ## Deliverables **Desktop / web application delivering a randomly selected Daily Inspirational Quote** Similar to the application at <a href="[login to view URL]" target="new">[login to view URL]</a> Requirements: Must run on PC, Macs and Linux systems Also version to run on portable devices such as mobile phones, iPods etc. The daily quote is to be selected from an online MySQL database, which must have a user-friendly interface for adding / updating entries. Although the quote is selected randomly I don't want the same quote to be delivered again within 60 days. The quote delivered can be the same to all connecting desktop applications, if it makes it easier? An initial file containing 200 quotes will be supplied. It can be delivered in Word format (set up in a table) or as an Excel or text file for importing into the MySQL database. There will be 3 fields for each record: a quote, the author and a comment. Not all quotes will have a comment. When there is a comment it is to be prefaced on the display by the words '***Carol's Muse...***' The website the database will be stored on takes MySQL databases. The application will be given away free and must have a small download size for the desktop version. I'd like the installation to allow addition to the quick launch toolbar for Windows (and whatever the equivalent is for Mac / Linux) If it can programmed to run without having to 'install' it - even better, but I don't know if this is possible. It must be easy to install and it must have an easy to access uninstall option. The installation license agreement must include a disclaimer for any damages caused by installing the application on the user's system. If it is possible - the application must be virus/trojan/worm proof to avoid installation problems. The user must be able to choose to display the quote on system start-up or at a specific time of day. I'd like the user to choose whether to display the quote in 'tool-tip' style - similar to when you hover your mouse pointer over an icon in the quick launch toolbar - or in a window, similar to the example application above. A design layout will be discussed with the winning bidder. The web application will be used to display daily quotes on a membership site and will change at 00:00 each day. Both sets of quotes are to be drawn from the same database. All rights to the application; copyright, uses etc are to be completely transferred to me. The About section must include a link to my membership website, this must be editable so I can enter different URLs for different versions. A statement showing who created the application with an email link for enquiries for his/her programming services may be included by the programmer in the About display.
