Intially this invitation is for **CONSULTATION PURPOSES ONLY**...then depending on what we figure out, we may like to discuss hiring you to help implement the decisions. You would/will be speaking an experienced developer.

For the past few months, a friend of mine and I have been developing a business management application. In order to help us out, you do _not_ need to necessarily be intimately familiar with our language and environment (which is Borland Delphi 7 for Win32) because what we are looking to implement here is various web integration functionality (namely a deployable shopping cart and basic helpdesk that needs to integrate a little with our application via an intermediate database), which is going to be made somewhat separate from our application code (my friend will take care of anything that deals with our existing app, we just need an outside expert for the web stuff). This should only require your knowledge of PHP/HTML, e-commerce order taking and payment concepts, and either MySQL or Firebird database - as well as the ability to understand what we are trying to accomplish and help us find the best solutions to achieve it.

The reason why I said "intermediate database" above is because right now we believe that is the best way to keep the web code totally separate from the Delphi code. For example, if an order comes in on someone's website, all the web system has to worry about doing is getting the order data into the intermediate database, and then our existing app will take it from there and do what needs to be done. Same goes for the basic helpdesk functionality. We believe doing it that way is the best way to keep confusion out of the whole thing, though we would like to check with you to see if there might ben an even better way.

We just want to talk with you about some things to help us clarify what we need to do and the best ways to make it happen.
