ascii string filter

| I need a peice of software to run in the background on windows xp sp2 that will monitor a selected serial comm port and filter out certain parts of the recieved string, an example is below and then send it back out on another serial comm port. 000000000010 30/10/2006 12:08:57 C OUTSTATION***_ _***OUTSTATION - NO COMMS WITH MAIN RACKBut I need to remove certain parts of this string so it looks like:0010 30/10/2006 12:08:57 C OUTSTATION - NO COMMS WITH MAIN RACKI have saved the printer output to file and after viewing it on notepad it is the standard ASCII I thought it should be. Please find attached actual printer outputs saved to file... as you will see we need to get rid of 8 characters at the beginning and then all the text from the C or (C) D to the carriage return and then finally the carriage return....... i have attached the files from the printer output and i would prefere a visual c or visual basic code that i can alter to fine tune to my needs, with some type of basic graphic interface to setup comm ports, filters ect. i will also need to confirm that the string it recieves is a in the format as above before applying the filter if it does meet the the standard checks then it allows it to pass through without filtering. i can confiirm this once the job has been accepted. if you have any question please let me know | ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law.
