We have a web app developed in asp classic. We recently added audio and video which is pulled from a SQL database depending which training topic a person wants to do on the online site.
Currently when the user clicks a button on our site and our audio or video (which relates to the content on that web page) launches the media player. The first problem is when the player runs, it runs in the foreground and does not stream but downloads the clip completely first which can take a long time.
We want to ensure the audio or video plays in the background without bringing the media player up on the screen and also that it streams. We want to add a nice audio / video icon as well as a play, stop and pause icon to our web page so that the user can control what they hear without relying on the media player buttons.
Do we need to have a certain app running on the server or can we rely on windows media player or other players on the user's desktop to stream the audio or video?
We have many other asp/SQL development needs and are hoping to identify some really good coders.
